The Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists (ISA) cited the work of state Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) on patient safety legislation and other health care initiatives in naming her Legislator of the Year recently.

The ISA honored Bellock at its annual House of Delegates meeting in Chicago. Asokumar Buvanendran, chair of the ISA's Governmental Affairs Committee, presented the award to Bellock, highlighting her efforts in the General Assembly to support the health care field.

Bellock noted the many anesthesiologists who live in her district, with three major hospitals in its borders: Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, and Adventist Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale. In a press release, Bellock called the anesthesiologists in her district among the most experienced and educated in the state.

“It is a privilege working with our local anesthesiologists to advance policies at the state level that focus on patient safety and strengthening the delivery of the highest quality health care for Illinois families,” Bellock said in the release. “I am truly honored to accept this award and look forward to making continued progress on state health care issues in partnership with our hardworking and dedicated anesthesiologists.”
