Carol Stream hopes to reel in some fathers for fishing event

Fishingpole

Dads, you're on the hook again.

Carol Stream's annual Father's Day Fishing Derby will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on June 18 at Bierman Park, the city's park district announced recently.

Prizes for catching the biggest fish will be awarded in several age categories during the catch-and-release event. Participants need to bring their own poles, hooks and bait.

Registration is $7 per resident and $11 per nonresident, although all dads fish for free. Anglers must be at least 3 years old to participate. Fishing licenses are required.

Bierman Park is located at 1253 Woodlake Drive. Besides fishing, it offers a playground, swings, a sand-volleyball court and a soccer field.

To register, go to the park district website at www.csparks.org and click on “Register” in the upper-right corner of the home page.

For more information, call 630-784-6100.
