In another step toward reversing actions taken during the tenure of the College of DuPage’s (COD) former President Robert Breuder, the college has signed an agreement with the County of DuPage and the Village of Glen Ellyn that returns administrative and regulatory control to the village.

According to a report lauding the move from the Edgar County Watchdogs, the college fought to buck the oversight of Glen Ellyn during the Breuder era following a disagreement over building inspections on new construction. The college sued to remove the village from the inspection and enforcement process, and the resulting settlement saw the County of DuPage assume responsibility for the inspections.

The new agreement again gives Glen Ellyn authority for building, liquor and zoning inspections on campus, albeit with some conditions, such as limiting the jurisdiction of the Village’s Architectural Review Commission. It also stipulates that the college may refer matters under the village's control to an arbitrator.

The Watchdogs view the agreement as a positive step and urge the college to continue with further action, including undoing a Breuder-era action that removed the college from the Glen Ellyn Fire District.
