Hinsdale ranked 472th in state in lottery ticket sales for July 2016

The Village of Hinsdale had the 472th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of July 2016 -- down 10 spots from its June ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Hinsdale was $18.50 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Dupage Policy Journal, Hinsdale generated $326,085.50 in net sales from its six lottery retailers in July 2016, compared to $255,838.50 in July 2015.

The Village of Hinsdale is in Cook County, and has a population of 17,628, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Willowbrook, Western Springs, Indian Head Park, Westmont, Clarendon Hills, Oak Brook, Westchester, Burr Ridge and Countryside.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in July 2016 was $42,797.04.

Hinsdale's top lottery retailer is Shell Food Mart located at 210 E Ogden Ave, Hinsdale, IL 60521.

Shell Food Mart generated 43 percent of Hinsdale's July 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Cook County's sales that month, which was $132,713,641.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Cook County in 2015 were Forest View, McCook, Merrionette Park, Calumet Park and Hodgkins.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
