Bloomingdale ranked 151th in state in lottery ticket sales for January 2016

The Village of Bloomingdale had the 151th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- up 67 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Bloomingdale was $41.27 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Dupage Policy Journal, Bloomingdale generated $918,350 in net sales from its 16 lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $591,992.50 in January 2015.

The Village of Bloomingdale is in DuPage County, and has a population of 22,254, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Carol Stream, Itasca, Hanover Park, Glendale Heights, Addison and Roselle.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $42,258.22.

Bloomingdale's top lottery retailer is Meijer #198 located at 128 S Gary Ave, Bloomingdale, IL 60108.

Meijer #198 generated 15 percent of Bloomingdale's January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of DuPage County's sales that month, which was $25,566,228.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in DuPage County in 2015 were Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca, Villa Park and Addison.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
