A pair of walking-centered programs will begin later this month in the Bloomingdale Park District, according to the district's website.

The first session of the Walking Book Club will start at 9 a.m. Jan. 14 in the Stratford Mall. Participants will discuss a different book each month while walking through the mall.

January's book for discussion is “Everything I Never Told You” by Celeste Ng, which is available at the Bloomingdale Public Library.

Each session is free. There will be one session per month through May.

The district also plans to have a Walk to Run program, beginning at 8 a.m. Jan. 21. This 10-week program will help participants work up to competing in a 5K. Potential participants should be able to walk for 30 minutes before starting the program.

Cost to participate in the program is $30 per resident and $40 per nonresident.

Registration is available online. For more information, call 630-529-3650.
