Naperville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Tuesday, Oct. 11.
The responsibilities of the BFPC are as follows: To recruit, select and appoint qualified candidates to fill vacancies for original appointment of Police Officer and Firefighter/Paramedic. To determine testing and selection processes that allow qualified employees to participate in the promotional process for the positions of Lieutenant and Captain in the Fire Department and Sergeant in the Police Department. To conduct disciplinary hearings or appeals of disciplinary action in the Fire and Police Department.

The meeting was held at 12:09 p.m. in the West Wing Conference Room located at 400 S. Eagle Street in Naperville.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 12:09 p.m. by Chairman Kenn Miller and attendance taken by Kathy Mackenzie:

Minutes:
A motion was made by Commissioner Kim Widup to accept the minutes of the September 27, 2016 meeting, seconded by Commissioner David Blaydes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
Police Department Status Report
Update
Commander Kammerer reported that the Naperville Police Department is preparing to host the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) conference this week.
Fire Department Status Report
Update
Bureau Chief Scheller noted that the Naperville Fire Department runs 400-600 mental health calls every year and the department anticipates the Crisis Intervention Team havinga positive impact on them.
The rain on October 1, 2016 caused the Public Safety Open House to cancel several demonstrations. Therefore, the Naperville Fire Department has rescheduled them forWednesday, October 19, 2016 from 4:30 – 7 p.m.
Old Business
1. Firefighter/Paramedic testing at North Central College. 343 candidates were tested and we will have one military accommodation to complete testing as well.
New Business
1. Police Sergeant Assessment Center December 6 & 7, 2016.
Action Taken
1. A motion was made by Commissioner Kim Widup to accept the closed session minutes of the September 27, 2016 closed session meeting and retain restriction, seconded by Commissioner Benny White. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
2. A motion was made by Commissioner David Blaydes to give a conditional offer to police officer Harold Bressler #2. It was seconded by Commissioner Benny White. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
Adjournment
A motion was made by Commissioner Kenn Miller to adjourn the meeting at 1:23 p.m., seconded by Commissioner Kim Widup. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
