The Chicago Tribune recently endorsed Heidi Holan, the Republican candidate for the District 46 state House seat, in her bid against incumbent state Rep. Deborah O'Keefe Conroy (D-Villa Park).
"I am honored to have received the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune today," Holan said. "Everyone realizes the change that we need in Springfield, and I am proud to stand against status-quo politics on behalf of the residents of District 46."

Holan's unwavering stance on the state's finances, opposition to tax increases and support of reforms needed to stimulate business growth also garnered endorsements from the National Federation of Independent Business and Family-Pac.
Holan signed a pledge to vote against House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) in his upcoming bid to remain in his leadership role, and the Tribune criticized Conroy for "not demonstrating much independence" from Madigan.
"Suburban voters, wise up," the Tribune editorial said. "You won't get change unless you vote for it. Our endorsement goes to Heidi Holan, R-Glen Ellyn, who came close to beating Conroy in 2014 and who offers a no-nonsense approach to state finances."
Holan said it's time for the Assembly to get out of taxpayers' pockets.
"Springfield has no standing to ask taxpayers for more revenue at this time," Holan said.
