Olsen chosen for three important state House education committees

Illinois

State Rep. David S. Olsen has been chosen to serve on three different committees focusing on education, House Republican Leader Jim Durkin announced last week.

“Education is an issue that is very important to Rep. Olsen, and I believe he will be a strong voice of advocacy for students and taxpayers,” Durkin said.

Olsen's new committee appointments are Community College Access and Affordability; the House Education Funding Task Force; and Elementary and Secondary Education, School Curriculum Policies.

“I was extremely pleased to learn that my committee assignments will provide me with an opportunity to participate in the shaping of future policy as it relates to all levels of education in Illinois,” Olsen said. “Finding the proper balance between ensuring opportunities for student success and protecting the taxpayers who fund our schools is a challenge I am excited to tackle as a lawmaker.”

Olsen will also serve on several other committees covering renewable energy and sustainability, public utilities, judiciary issues and public/private partnerships.

“These all represent areas of interest to me, and I look forward to joining the legislative debate when legislators return to Springfield in November,” he said.
