Lisle utility consumers set for Smart Meter upgrade

Lisle residents can expect contact from authorized ComEd or Corix contractors for Smart Meter installation starting in August, the utility announced recently, with customers asked to ensure access to meters on scheduled service days.

ComEd has been advising customers of proper procedures, including a phone call to arrange for installation, front-door contact, and approximately 10 minutes of time for upgrade to a Smart Meter for each household. Corix is an authorized contractor for ComEd; city officials caution any consumers who detect fraudulent activity to call the Lisle Police Department at 9-1-1.

Advantages of upgrading to Smart Meters include energy management tools, alerts during peak usage time periods, and regular data summaries detailing usage. ComEd predicts that most of its territory will have received the upgrade by the end of 2018.

Consumers wishing to postpone the switchover can do so for an additional monthly fee of $21.53. Those residents who depend on medical equipment operation or who have general questions regarding the installation can call ComEd at 866-368-8326.

Additionally, ComEd plans to host educational presentations on two occasions, both at the Lisle train station — from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 9; and from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Aug. 16.
