The village of Lombard recently created and approved a long-range plan in order to address increasing costs of non-discretionary (required) expenses for everyday operations and maintain its budget despite holdups at the state level.
Focusing on fiscal conscientiousness and practical planning, the village board agreed on June 16 to a plan first outlined earlier in the year, and presented at a Joint Village Board and Finance and Administration Committee Workshop on April 25.
Lombard strives to meet more than just the minimum to its citizens, with a goal to provide “excellent” levels of service to both residents and business denizens. With expenses rising faster than revenues due to fiscal problems beyond the control of local jurisdictions, the village has taken pro-active measures to ensure its constituents’ comfort and well-being.
“The strategy approved in the Long Range Plan commits the Village to matching dollar for dollar (50/50) revenue increases and expenditure reductions, in order to maintain a balanced General Fund operating budget,” the village said on its website.
Finance Director Tim Sexton is available at 630-620-5902 for any citizens who may have questions; additionally, an FAQ list and Powerpoint presentation are both accessible via the village’s website, at villageoflombard.org/LRP.
