Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 67.3 percent of Fenton High School's (FHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.
The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.
For FHS, its college enrollment rate marks a decline since 2014, when 68.2 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.
The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.
Enrollment at FHS in 2015 was 1,555; 433 (27.85 percent) were seniors.
Also according to ISBE, 40.5 percent of FHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, versus an average of 46 percent statewide.
All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."
Among high schools in DuPage, the class of 2015 college readiness rates at York Community High School (71.8 percent), Glenbard West High School (65.6 percent), Wheaton Warrenville South High School (63.9 percent), Lake Park High School (61.6 percent), Woodstock North High School (43.6 percent), Westmont High School (56 percent) and Downers Grove South High School (56.9 percent) were all higher than at FHS. Addison Trail High School (33.3 percent) was lower.
FHS students did better on math (40.2 percent) and English (53.8 percent) and worse on science (27.4 percent) and reading (32.9 percent).
Only 17.3 percent of FHS students were college ready in all four subjects, according to ISBE.
