77.9 percent of Glenbard North High School's 2015 graduating class enrolled in college

Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 77.9 percent of Glenbard North High School's (GNHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.

The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.

For GNHS, its college enrollment rate marks an improvement over 2014, when 74 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.

The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.

Enrollment at GNHS in 2015 was 2,316; 632 (27.29 percent) were seniors.

Also according to ISBE, 55.7 percent of GNHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, versus an average of 46 percent statewide.

All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."

Among high schools in DuPage, the class of 2015 college readiness rates at Neuqua Valley High School (85.9 percent), Naperville North High School (77 percent), York Community High School (71.8 percent), Wheaton North High School (71.3 percent), Hinsdale South High School (61.4 percent), Westmont High School (56 percent) and Waubonsie Valley High School (66.3 percent) were all higher than at GNHS. Addison Trail High School (33.3 percent) and Woodstock High School (54 percent) were all lower.

GNHS students did better on math (49.7 percent) and English (69 percent) and worse on science (41.2 percent) and reading (48.1 percent).

Only 28.8 percent of GNHS students were college ready in all four subjects, according to ISBE.
