Westmont village board discusses changes in Personnel Code of Ordinances

Accident

Drug-free workplace, dual village employment and social media policies were discussed at Westmont's village board meeting Feb. 18.

The Executive Safety Committee reviewed the village's drug and alcohol testing policy in regards to accidents, ultimately determining that the policy should be revised. The revision will make Section 62-75 consistent with the Public Works and Fire Department policies.

In addition to the drug-free workplace policy, the board considered adding dual employment to the Personnel Code of Ordinances. Section 62-80 will document the village's policy that a full-time employee cannot hold more than one position with the village; however, part-time employees may hold more than one part-time position.

The board also considered adding Sections 62-79 for social media in order to establish codes of conduct for workplace and personal use of social media. It also establishes that employees who fail to act professionally or use social media to discuss confidential matters or harass, libel or discriminate against others will be subject to disciplinary actions.

Monkeypencil Apparel's request to operate an apparel store in the Weston Travel building, Mariano's Class 17 liquor license, the 2016 MFT resurfacing project and Westmont's Special Events Corporation request for a $10,000 grant were also considered for approval during the meeting.
