Wheaton City Council discusses rate structure changes for ambulance services

Wheaton

The Wheaton City Council discussed modifications in ambulance service fees during its regular meeting in February.

City staff reviewed rate structures that would adjust the revenue, a cost ratio for ambulance services from 70 percent to 100 percent using projected costs from the current budget.

Two options were proposed: a rate that would cover 100 percent of the estimated expenses and a rate comparable to other municipalities in covering only 90 percent of expenses.

Some council members expressed concerns with the 100 percent option, insisting that it would impose a significant increase on users.

Consequently, the council expressed a greater interest in the 90 percent option, which would keep Wheaton's ambulance/EMS service charges more in line with other communities.
