The city of St. Charles continues to conduct a water use survey, sending reply cards out to all of its water customers.
The survey is being managed by Aqua Backflow, a company specializing in public utility surveys and data collection. Each water customer in St. Charles has been required to complete and return a short questionnaire. The survey, which takes just a few minutes to complete, is providing valuable data to ensure that every resident has safe drinking water.
The main goal of the survey is to determine if a homeowner has a backflow prevention device installed on their water system, which is part of an equipment package required by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).
The aim is to prevent any crossover between the drinking water line and non-drinking water line, which could pose health concerns. Backflow prevention devices reduce the opportunity of this crossover and are installed in systems that have a high risk, such as lawn irrigation systems, boilers, hot tubs, ponds, fountains and fire sprinklers.
Residents are reminded to return all surveys to Aqua Backflow instead of the city office. If you have or require backflow protection, you may be contacted for testing, repairs or installations.
Homeowners with questions should contact Aqua Backflow directly via phone (847-742-2296) or e-mail info@AquaBackflow.com.
