Seth Lewis, Republican candidate for the Illinois State Senate District 23 (Bloomingdale), recently explained his background and positions on key issues.
Lewis, a longtime Bartlett resident, has developed a corporate background as an executive and a small business owner.
“Illinois’ significant problems and poor financial standing are putting our jobs, our homes and our children’s futures at risk,” Lewis said. “But there are many opportunities to make improvements. Illinois’ greatest resource is its citizens. We have amazing potential to make Illinois financially strong and attractive for investment. Most importantly, we need to protect and enhance our quality of life, making sure all Illinois communities are great places to live, work and raise a family.”
Lewis began his career at Culligan International, then after a stint as vice president of Operations for a Melrose Park company, he became a State Farm Insurance agent. He is now in his seventh year as an independent business owner and agent with State Farm. Lewis’ abrupt change in his career path was due to the decline in Illinois’ manufacturing sector over the past decade. He believes that as a state senator, his personal story will provide him the insight and motivation to begin rebuilding businesses in Illinois.
Lewis positions himself as a fiscal conservative and believes he has the best answers to many of the challenges that Illinois residents face. As he runs for the seat in the 23rd District, his platform includes three fundamental principles: supporting policies and programs that stabilize Illinois state finances and improve the quality of the state overall, investing in the future of Illinoisans by bringing a business mindset to Springfield that will attract new jobs and investment, and increasing transparency and accountability in the state government, with a commitment to base his decision on the needs of residents and business owners.
“We want our children to be able to want to raise their children here,” Lewis concluded. “And we want our seniors to be able to stay in their homes and enjoy a high quality of life for as long as they wish to.”
