Village of Westmont officials received information Thursday that Peter Woitovich, a part-time firefighter-paramedic, was arrested by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office for child pornography.
Woitovich, who was charged with five counts of Possession of Child Pornography, has been working for the Village Fire Department but had not yet completed his probationary period.
With the charges constituting a Class 2 felony, Woitovich's bail was set at $300,000. Twenty-five-year-old Woitovich, who lives in Downers Grove, was immediately placed on administrative leave and then fired on Friday once the charges were confirmed.
Since the county is leading the investigation, the village of Westmont will defer all inquiries related to this issue to the DuPage County State Attorney.
