The Lombard Pride Committee, a group of residents tasked with identifying preferences and prioritizing availability for future special events and festivals in the Village of Lombard, recently submitted its recommendations for 2016 to the Village Board, which accepted them.
The list includes the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show, Lilac Time parade and art fair, Lombard Ale Fest, Jingle Bell Jubilee, Civil War reenactment, Spook-tacular, and series events such as Cruise Nights and Summer Concerts. The group also seeks support for local nonprofit agency activities on a per-event basis.
The Pride Committee issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) last fall, seeking a qualified not-for-profit group to plan and operate a future village-wide summer community festival. The RFP remains open, as no formal event proposals have been received to date.
“While no formal responses were received as part of the RFP, the work of the committee set the stage for future community festivals and celebrations moving forward,” Keith Giagnorio, the committee's chairman and the village president, said. “We’re leaving the door open for local organizations to bring forward their concepts and proposals for new events as they develop into the future.”
The village encourages qualified organizations to submit their concepts and proposals for hosting community events within the village. Interested groups should contact Assistant Village Manager Nicole Aranas at 630-620-3085.
