Wheaton Environmental Improvement Commission discusses spring events
The Wheaton Environmental Improvement Commission recently discussed upcoming spring events, including the Recycling Extravaganza, during its first meeting of 2016.
The commission discussed several ongoing programs, including the Adopt-a-Highway cleanup program and electronics and cooking-oil recycling efforts. The commission also discussed upcoming programs, including the Recycling Extravaganza (April 16), Arbor Day (April 29), the Native Plant Sale (April 30) and the Illinois Prairie Path Clean Up (April 30).
The commission also discussed plans for installation of new pedestrian crossing signs at Washington and Prairie Path, as well as efforts to improve Founders Park and make it more of a local attraction.
The Wheaton Environmental Improvement Commission is responsible for advising the City Council on environment-related subject matters and coordinating a variety of events each year, including a Recycling Extravaganza, Prairie Path Clean-up, Native Plant Sale and Arbor Day tree-planting ceremony. The commission meets at 7:30 p.m. monthly in Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St.
