The Village of Lisle Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved new applications for mixed-use business permits for a hair salon and a Lithuanian art studio during a recent meeting.

One permit will allow Le Sanly Beauty Inc. at 7656 Main St. to move from the second floor of the building to the first floor with the ultimate goal of purchasing the structure. The permit also will allow the salon's owner to sell traditional Chinese herbs and beauty items.

Members of the public spoke out in favor of the permit and said surrounding businesses will benefit from the salon's clientele.

The board also approved a special-use permit for a Lithuanian art studio to move into 1936 University Lane from a site in Lemont. The studio's owner is in need of a larger and more centrally located site that's closer to students.

After hearing testimony related to the size, type and nature of proposed new signage, board members also approved a request from the St. Joan of Arc Church and School for a five-foot variance on a new illuminated sign directing parishioners to the correct building entrances.

The Lisle Park District's special-use permit request for improvements at the community ballfields at 1825 Short St. also was approved unanimously. The improvements include work on the press box, batting cage, dugouts and back stop.
