Wrapping up a 30-year career as an Elmhurst Firefighter, Chief Jeff Bacidore has announced his retirement from the Elmhurst Fire Department, effective Feb. 5, 2016.

Bacidore plan to work in private industry.

“We appreciate all that Jeff has given to the residents of Elmhurst over his career,” Jim Grabowski, Elmhurst's city manager, said. “(We) wish him the best as he starts a new career.”

Bacidore started as an Elmhurst firefighter in 1985, was promoted to lieutenant 10 years later, then named battalion chief in 1998. In 2002, Bacidore was promoted to deputy fire chief, then chief in 2012.

“I feel blessed to have been a small part of this great city,” Bacidore said. “It has been an honor to work with the dedicated firefighters and paramedics of the Elmhurst Fire Department. Their hard work and dedication to the mission of the Elmhurst Fire Department is something I will remember for years to come.”
