The National Retail Federation (NRF) recently named U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) a recipient of the group’s Hero of Main Street Award for his record of voting for measures that support small-business growth and the retail sector.
Hultgren accepted the award from NRF Vice President of State Relations Mike Cys at a recent ceremony.
“The retail industry in Illinois is a key driver of our economy and supplies more than a million jobs to our citizens,” Hultgren said.
“Retailers nationwide provide $2.6 trillion of our country’s GDP (gross domestic product)," Hultgren said. "That is why I will continue to push for policies that support small businesses and retailers throughout the country.”
NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay praised Hultgren’s voting record.
“NRF’s Heroes of Main Street have shown through their voting records that they care about retailers, big and small, and value the role these businesses play in communities around the country,” Shay said. “By backing our policy priorities, they show their commitment to a prosperous Main Street and to the long-term growth of retail -- our nation’s largest private-sector employer.”
