The City of Warrenville recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate completion of the reconstruction project on the Williams Road Bridge.

Celebrating the long-awaited reopening, nearly 200 people gathered at the bridge for the event, which was hosted by Immanuel Presbyterian Church and the Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce.

The reconstruction project began in March. The project was necessary to raise the bridge above the 100-year floodplain, allowing for better water flow during weather events and preventing backup.

In addition, a protected sidewalk was added to the west side of the bridge to provide more safety for pedestrians, and new lighting was added to improve aesthetics and safety.  improvements also were made to the sewer and water main, extending it from Batavia Road to Iroquois Court South.
