During the summer the College of DuPage Board of Trustees hired AlixPartners LLP to provide temporary executive and evaluative services to its finance department.
The hiring took place days before the community college’s senior vice president of administration and treasurer Thomas Glaser and assistant vice president of financial affairs and controller Lynn Sapyta were placed on administrative leave following questionable investments they made on behalf of the college.
In the interim, AlixPartners consultants John Dischner and Kurt Beckeman took over the treasurer's office and have overseen its day-to-day operations.
"We're certainly not looking to reinvent the wheel in any situation," Dischner said. "Generally, by the time our firm is invited into a situation, there's some aspect that you don't want to repeat."
AlixPartners has also provided on-site leadership for the chief financial officer, treasurer and clerical assistants by submitting a formal evaluation of all finances to the board.
