The Ax the Tax on Middle Class Americans' Health Plans Act, co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Dist. 14), received support this week from nine Democratic senators and Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, a presidential hopeful.
H.R. 879 would repeal the Cadillac tax on high-cost health plans embedded in the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
“If they don’t change their coverage, more than 50 percent of employers will risk triggering the 40 percent tax in the next seven years," Hultgren said in a recent op-ed piece.
H.R. 879 would repeal such taxes.
"Americans to buy health insurance plans, and then taxing those same plans, has been an exercise in governmental mismanagement since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law," Hultgren said. "Americans should have the freedom to choose what health plan serves them and their families best without fear of the government slamming them with added costs."
Born and raised in Illinois, and having spent more than 15 years serving Illinois and its citizens at multiple levels of government, Hultgren's 14th District consists of seven suburban counties, including McHenry, Lake, Kendall, Kane, DuPage, DeKalb and Will.
