Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) today issued a statement regarding the shooting of Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, the Fox Lake police officer who was killed in the line of duty this week.
“Every day our police officers risk their lives to ensure the safety of our families and communities," Hultgren said. "We should never take their service for granted. The senseless shooting of Lt. Joe Gliniewicz is a sad and grim reminder of the dangers they face on the job every day. My heart breaks for the family and friends of Lt. Joe. He was a good husband, father and friend to so many in the community.
"Christy and I are praying for those close to him, his local law enforcement colleagues and the entire Fox Lake community. Now, we all must show our officers, and their families that serve alongside them, our strong appreciation and support that they deserve. We must stand together against violence toward law enforcement. Justice will be served for those responsible.”
An investigation to find the assailants is ongoing.
