Ceremony to highlight Willow Springs safety improvements

The Villages of La Grange and Western Springs, Lyons Township High School (LTHS), the Park District of La Grange, and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony the completion of the Willow Springs Road Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project.with state Sen. Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) and state Rep. Jim Durkin (R- Western Springs) Tuesday at 9 a.m.

The ceremony will take place at the southern entrance of the LTHS south campus.

The project was a collaborative effort initiated several years ago as part of an overall strategy to assess traffic calming and pedestrian safety improvements within the Willow Springs Road Corridor from 47th to 51st streets.

Project improvements include the installation of a traffic signal at the southern entrance of LTHS, reconfiguration of internal roadways and drop-off and pick-up procedures within the LTHS campus, alignment of driveway entrances at Denning Park with the new traffic signal, installation of an east-west sidewalk through Denning Park, installation of enhanced crosswalk beacons, and enhanced school speed zone signs with flashing yellow beacons.
