Rep. Bill Foster (D-IL) is offering a limited number of tickets to residents of Illinois' 11th Congressional District to attend an outdoor simulcast of Pope Francis’ address to a joint meeting of Congress on Sept. 24.
Foster is distributing the tickets, via lottery, for general admission to the West Lawn of the Capitol where attendees will be able to watch Pope Francis' address simulcast on large screens. To participate in the lottery, submit your information to Foster's office by Sept. 7. Lottery winners will be notified Sept. 8.
In the event that a lottery winner is unable to use their tickets, they will be redistributed to lottery entrants on the wait list on a rolling basis.
Ticket holders are responsible for their own transportation to and from Washington, D.C., lodging and other trip expenses.
The event is historic in that it will be the first time a reigning pontiff has addressed Congress.
