Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will host a property tax assessment appeal seminar on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The seminar will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St., for taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2015 property tax assessments.
Specifically, the seminar will provide taxpayers information on how to file a successful tax appeal, as well as address the reasons property taxes increase despite the value of a resident's home decreasing.
Patlak will explain the appeal procedure at the board of review. During the seminar, taxpayers also will have the opportunity to work with staff from the board of review to address specific questions and concerns.
The seminar is co-hosted by Lemont Township Assessor Kenneth C. Jacobowski, Mayor Brian Reaves, township Supervisor Steven Rosendahl, and Lemont Village Trustees Cliff Miklos and Ron Stapleton.
