More than 600 participate in Teen Camp Olympics in Westmont

Westmont

The Illinois Park and Recreation Association's Teen Camp Olympics drew more than 600 youth to Ty Warner Park in Westmont on July 22.

“It was truly exciting to have this many kids come to our park for this event,” Westmont Park District Assistant Superintendent of Recreation Steve Golembiewski said. “More than 50 teams competed in the contest and we had people come all the way from Champaign. We hope to make this an annual event in Westmont.”

Six different team-building games were planned for day camps throughout the Chicagoland area.

The top three teams in the competition were from the Oak Park, Winnetka and Madinah park districts, with the Spirit Stick award going to the Champaign Park District.

Photos from the event can be found on the village website at www.westmont.illinois.gov.
