Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) have been issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the majority of DuPage County.
The maps, which bring additional properties into the regulatory floodplain, are now considered "best available information" by DuPage County for the purpose of reviewing floodplain permit applications. The process of finalizing and publishing the maps is expected to be completed in the fall of 2016. Mortgage companies and insurers at that time will also be required to use the maps.
