The St. Charles Police Department made four DUI arrests as part of its Independence Day Mobilization campaign.
Held in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program, the campaign also yielded three arrests for driving with a suspended license. Officers also issued one citation for a safety belt violation, one citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, 23 citations for speeding, two citations for other Illinois Vehicle Code violations and 36 written warning notices.
The campaign's goal was to reduce the frequency and severity of injury-related crashes. It was part of the statewide “Click It or Ticket” and the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” programs.
Enforcement details were conducted at various times during the two-week campaign period from June 22 through July 5.
