The Northwest Mosquito Abatement District (NWMAD) will resume nighttime spraying for nuisance mosquitoes within Elk Grove, Illinois, as conditions permit.

The spraying for nuisance mosquitoes is scheduled based on trapped mosquito surveillance, weather and wind guidelines.

Elk Grove is recommending steps to minimize the breeding of and exposure to mosquitoes.

Steps include protecting onself by reducing exposure to mosquitoes and limiting the time spent outdoors between dusk and dawn; wear light-colored, loosely fitting, protective clothing as well as insect repellant when outdoors; eliminating all sources of standing water; ensuring all door and window screens are in place and tight fitting; and keeping all vegetation trimmed and maintaining grass at less than six inches.
