North and south ramp entrances to the new Metra Underpass tunnel in downtown Lombard, Illinois, are set to open Monday.
The north and south platforms and staircases leading to the platforms will be opened, and Union Pacific will only close the temporary stairs on the north side of the platform once the new ramps are open to pedestrian traffic.
Also, four handicapped parking stalls, located on the south side of the tracks, will be reopened for use.
John Burns Construction, the village contractor, will be paving and patching the south side of S. Park Ave. Road work may lead to delays or road closures. This portion of the work is expected to be completed on or around July 10.
The entire project is expected to be completed by August.
