The village of Lombard said Wednesday is is officially kicking off its first Village-Wide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.
The initiative will develop the framework for a safe and accessible network of streets to connect bicyclists and pedestrians to destinations while meeting the needs of those in the community.
The plan will also give the village an advantage when applying for state and federal transportation grants
A table featuring an outline of the plan will be set up at the Cruise Night set for Saturday and June 20, as well as at a public open house from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, July 1.
The village is also seeking public input from residents. An online survey can be completed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LombardBikePed.
The plan is an update for the village's Lilac Bikeway Plan. A bike tour is being scheduled for late September to present the proposed recommendations.
