U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) received the Spirit of Enterprise Award on Tuesday for his commitment to advancing jobs and growth during the second session of the 113th Congress.

"For 50 years, the U.S. Chamber has been recognizing legislators from both sides of the aisle who have worked to pass legislation and enact policies that bolster our country's economy, create jobs and keep our nation's spirit of enterprise alive," U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue said. “The Spirit of Enterprise award honors those members of Congress like Congressman Randy Hultgren who has recognized the need and shown a commitment to pro-growth policies in the second session of the 113th Congress.”

Hultgren said the depressed economy continues to burden many American families.

“Now more than ever, we need to implement policies that create space for businesses to flourish and hire more workers," Hultgren said. "I am humbled to receive this award and hope that President Obama will take up legislation passed by the House and Senate that will get Americans back to work."

The Spirit of Enterprise Award is awarded annually to members of Congress based on their voting history on critical business legislation outlined in the chamber publication "How They Voted." Members who supported the chamber’s position on at least 70 percent of those votes qualify to receive the award.
