Attorney Rabin elected secretary of NAMI DuPage

Attorney

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of DuPage County recently elected attorney Jeffrey Rabin secretary.

"The mission of NAMI is to provide support, advocacy and education in order to improve the quality of life of individuals with mental illness, as well as their families," Rabin, of The Law Offices of Rabin, Kodner & Brown, said. "As secretary, I feel privileged to do whatever I can to support those suffering from mental illness, to ensure they are treated fairly and receive the rights they are due."

Currently, NAMI is working on a partnership with the DuPage County Mental Health Department (DCMHD) to provide space for expanded programs for individuals dealing with mental illness. NAMI will also create a living room, or a peer-led program, with the goal of preventing unnecessary emergency room visits for those with mental illness.

"As a board member, I am working to help raise the funds needed to create this new programming," Rabin said. "We are also reaching out to the community for fundraising to support these programs and the staffing required."
