Lombard officials said on Friday that Sam's Club, Hamilton Partners, Oakridge Realty and the village reached a tentative agreement to move forward with the development of a new 135,000-square-foot retail store at 611 E. Butterfield Road.
Keith Giagnorio, the village's president, said the agreement is great news for Lombard.
“Sam’s Club will be a welcome addition, and we look forward to helping make their plan a reality," Giagnorio said. "It is great to see that with an improving economy, Lombard continues to be a destination for retail business activity.”
The project must first be reviewed publicly in front of the Lombard Plan Commission, and the village's board must sign off on zoning and incentive agreements.
“We are very excited about this proposed development and look forward to working with the village," Hamilton Partners' Greg Winner said.
The concept plan is scheduled for a preliminary workshop session before the Lombard Plan Commission at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 27, at the Lombard Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave.
Future meetings will be scheduled as the project advances.
