The City of Warrenville, Illinois, has been awarded a grant from the American in Bloom and Canadian National Railroad EcoConnexions "From the Ground Up" grant program.
On April 8, the city was informed that it will receive the grant, which provides funding for greening of public spaces in communities along its rail lines.
The city will use the $20,000 for landscaping improvements at Leone Schmidt Heritage Park, in conjunction with the county’s West Branch DuPage River remeandering and flood mitigation project. Improvements will include the transplanting of trees, construction of rain gardens, installation of landscape beds and landscape screening.
Warrenville is one of six communities to receive the grant.
