Hinsdale police sergeant graduates from command school

Hinsdale

The Hinsdale Police Department said on Monday that Sgt. Thomas Yehl graduated from Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.

Yehl successfully completed the 10-week staff and command program, which began on Oct. 6, 2014, and ended on Feb. 13, 2015, in DeKalb.

Yehl was one of 27 students in the program.

A total of 27 core blocks of instruction, plus other blocks, are covered. Major topics include leadership, human resources, employee relations, organizational behavior, applied statistics, planning and police

development, budgeting and resource allocation.

In the past, a number of graduates from the program have gone on to secure leadership positions within their respective departments and agencies.
