Elmhurst has a new Dero Bike Fix-It bicycle repair station, which the city recently installed downtown.
The station was funded out of proceeds from the 2014 Elmhurst Cycling Classic, donated by the Elmhurst Master’s Competition Cycling Team.
The station is located south of the downtown train tracks and east of York Street on the first bicycle parking pad.
The city will establish a permanent location later this spring.
The station consists of several tools, including wrenches and screwdrivers, which are tethered to woven steel cables. A hand-operated pump is also available.
Also, the 2015 Superior Ambulance Elmhurst Cycling Classic is scheduled for July 24 and will include a twilight men’s professional race at 8 p.m. Races for all other classes begin at noon and continue throughout the day in routes around Elmhurst College.
