Dupagecountyseal

An incentive program to encourage developers and property owners to build green projects throughout DuPage County was approved Tuesday by the county board.

The board unanimously voted to implement a list of incentives to reduce permitting time and costs for projects that qualify under U.S. Green Building Council standards.

"These incentives will help us conserve natural resources, reduce environmental impacts, develop sustainability initiatives and promote economic opportunity for residents throughout DuPage," the county's economic development committee chair Tonia Khouri said.

Private-sector developers or property owners who implement green design standards into their projects will be eligible for incentives such as building permit review expedited by 25 percent; expedited stormwater review for both incorporated and unincorporated projects with a 25 percent time reduction; a 10 percent reduction of building permit, zoning and plat application fees; and an expedited zoning and plat process.
