DuPage County is seeking volunteers for the Adopt-a-Trail program that helps keep local trails free of debris.
"DuPage County is very proud of our trail system," Board Chairman Dan Cronin said. "In order to maintain a pleasant user experience, the Adopt-a-Trail program allows groups of all ages to participate in beautifying our trail system."
The program permits private and civic groups to adopt 1-mile sections of the Illinois Prairie Path and Great Western Trail where they collect litter four times a year between March and November. The county provides the needed work materials.
"The program is a great opportunity for residents to take ownership of the very trails that pass through their neighborhoods," board member Sean Noonan said. "Volunteers can help pick up litter, clear culverts of debris and help ensure the trails are in good condition for biking, walking and other activities."
