Westmont public meetings on sales tax referendum set
The Village of Westmont said on Monday that it will hold several meetings concerning the Stormwater-Infrastructure 1/2 Percent Sales Tax Referendum, which voters will decide on April 7.
“We want to make sure that voters are well-informed regarding this important topic,” Westmont Communications Director Larry McIntyre said of the meetings. “The village can neither advocate for nor against this referendum, so it is imperative that we do our best to provide factual information for our citizens to consider.”
The referendum meeting schedule:
Feb. 21, 1 p.m., Westmont Library, 428 N. Cass.
Feb. 26, 8 a.m., Westmont Centre, 1 S. Cass St.
Feb. 26, 6:30 p.m., Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy St.
March 1, 2 p.m., Westmont Llibrary, 428 N. Cass.
March 26, 6:30 p.m., Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy.
“This is an initiative that was driven by the community," Mayor Ron Gunter said. "I’m very pleased at how we all worked together as a team to come to this solution. Per the feedback we received from the majority of the community, the board decided to move forward with a Stormwater-Infrastructure Sales Tax Referendum."
