Clarendon Hills appoints new village manager

Clarendonhills

The Village of Clarendon Hills appointed Kevin Barr recently to serve as its new manager.

Barr replaces Martin Bourke, who served as interim village manager.

The search for a new manager began when former Manager Randall Recklaus resigned last fall to assume a position with the Village of Arlington Heights.

Barr said he is looking forward to serving Clarendon Hills.

"I am excited by the opportunity to work for a beautiful community like Clarendon Hills and am anxious to do all I can to maintain the commitment to quality professional management that the community has come to expect," he said.

He has 28 years of experience in the municipal government field, most recently serving as manager for the Village of Schiller Park.

Barr has been instrumental in capturing millions of dollars in grants for public improvements, negotiating 10 union contracts and drafting a balanced budget for 15 straight years.

Barr holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where he also received his undergraduate degree.
