U.S. Rep. Bill Foster (D-IL) announced his nominations for the U.S. Services Academies on Thursday.
“I am proud of the 18 students who have chosen to serve their country and attend a United States Military Academy,” Foster said during the announcement at the Judd Kendall VFW in Naperville, Illinois. “Over the next four years, these young people will not only learn the technical skills they need as a member of the armed forces, but also the leadership skills that will serve them during their time in the military and when they return to civilian life.”
Nominees for the U.S. Air Force Academy include: Plainfield South High School’s Nicholas Albertini, Plainfield East High School's Jacob Floresca, Naperville Central High School’s Evan Giesler and Arun Madhavan, and Bolingbrook High School’s Michael Korta.
Students nominated for the U.S. Naval Academy include: Greystone Preparatory School and Waubonsie Valley High School's Marion Bautista, Waubonsie Valley High School’s Cedrick Chan, Neuqua Valley High School’s Carter Edwards, Marmion Academy’s Russell Joyce, Plainfield Central High School’s John Lyons, Bolingbrook High School’s Arvin Sierra, and Naperville Central High School’s Tyler Vizza.
The nominees for the U.S. Military Academy include Marmion Academy’s Eric Ortlund, Metea Valley High School's Jacob Petersen, Benet Academy’s JP Renfro, and USMA Preparatory School and Downers Grove South High School’s Joshua Rogers.
Marmion Academy’s Daniel Garza and Metea Valley High School’s Jarrett House were nominated for both the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy.
