State Rep. Patti Bellock (R-IL) was recently sworn in as the 2015 state director for Women In Government at the 21st annual State Directors’ and 11th Biennial First Term Legislators’ Conference in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

“Women In Government congratulates Representative Patti Bellock in her position as a state director,” Executive Director of Women In Government Dyan Alexander said. “State directors play a critical role in setting policy priorities for our organization. Patti Bellock is a recognized leader in Illinois, and we are excited that she will now share her leadership skills with other women policymakers throughout the country.”

Bellock was elected to the position by her fellow state legislative colleagues this past year.

“I am honored to have been chosen to serve as Illinois State Director for Women In Government, an organization I have been very privileged to be a part of since the year 2000,” Bellock said. “Many states, including Illinois, have many exciting new opportunities this year to advance a positive, pro-growth economic agenda with women policymakers at the forefront in both the executive and legislative branches across the country.”

State legislators attending the 21st annual State Directors Conference heard from expert speakers on a variety of public policy topics and their impact on states, including developing energy diversity, the role of nutrition in healthy aging, methods for creating opportunities for families, and diabetes prevention and awareness.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to attendees to network with colleagues across state borders and share best practices to advance successful public policies.
