Two informational sessions regarding DuPage County's Human Services Grant Fund will be held in January.
The grant was created to assist nonprofit organizations that provide human services to county residents.
The informational meetings are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, and 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan.8, in Room 3-500B of the DuPage County JTK Administration Building, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.
The grant's aim is to encourage family self-sufficiency, provide for the protection of children and at-risk residents, and expand opportunities to families.
To qualify for the grant, the agency must be a registered 501(c)(3) for at least three years prior to submitting the application. Agencies and proposals with a positive record working with the county's Department of Community Services will receive priority.
At least 60 percent of program funding will be geared toward those at or below 30 percent of the U.S. Housing and Urban Development median family income or federal poverty guidelines.
The fund in 2015 will distribute $1 million to grant applicants.
