Senator Seth Lewis highlights constituent outreach efforts and launches card drive for seniors
Senator Seth Lewis has provided an update on his activities in the 24th District, highlighting efforts to connect with constituents throughout 2025. Lewis, a Republican elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2023 to represent the 24th Senate District, replaced previous state senator Suzy Glowiak. His district includes communities in DuPage and Suburban Cook Counties.
Lewis emphasized that much of his work takes place outside Springfield, noting, "My work involves much more than going to Springfield and voting on legislation. In fact, we are in Springfield only five months of the year. The majority of my work takes place back here in the district."
He described direct engagement with residents as a priority: "We were out in the communities talking with residents and gathering feedback at people’s doors. This face-to-face engagement is incredibly rewarding, and the information gathered is extremely valuable." He also stated that his office made efforts to respond to all inquiries by email or phone and promoted free community resources such as a museum pass for constituents.
The senator reported hosting various events tailored for different groups during 2025. These included document shredding events, Medicaid information sessions, a blood drive, electronics recycling event, disability resource and job placement fair, children’s safety expo, senior fair, and several ICASH, IPASS, and Mobile Secretary of State events.
As lawmakers return to Springfield for the start of the 2026 legislative session—the second year of the 104th General Assembly—Lewis said he would continue focusing on issues important to DuPage and Suburban Cook Counties as well as Illinois overall. He encouraged constituents to share their input: "As always, I value your input and suggestions. If there is an issue you believe would benefit from a legislative remedy, please reach out to my office through the contact form listed at SenatorLewis.com."
With Valentine’s Day approaching, Lewis announced his fourth annual “Valentines for Seniors” card drive. The initiative invites students from schools and community organizations—as well as individual residents—to create handmade Valentine’s cards for seniors living in care facilities across the district. Cards can be dropped off or mailed to his Carol Stream office until February 6.
"This is a wonderful way for young people to connect with an older generation because these cards show our seniors that they remain an important and valued part of our community," Lewis said.
Additionally, Lewis highlighted scholarship opportunities offered by Township Officials of Illinois. Seven $2,000 scholarships are available annually for high school students attending college within Illinois during the 2026-2027 academic year; applications are open until March 2.
